About Native Tech
Native Tech is a tertiary education provider based in New Zealand, operating as the education arm of Digital Natives Academy (DNA), a registered charitable trust. It holds NZQA Category 2 Provider status. The organisation's founders have backgrounds spanning two decades in the tech industry and a decade working with young people.
The trust was established in 2014 as a provider of free digital and creative technology programmes for tamariki and rangatahi Māori. Native Tech itself launched in 2022, offering a foundation programme focused on technology, creativity, and personal development.
Native Tech delivers NZQA-accredited programmes at Levels 1 to 3, combining technical training with real-world paid work experience through projects in print-on-demand, AI media production, and events. The programme also includes wellbeing support such as one-to-one check-ins and onsite counselling, alongside job readiness and financial literacy components. The provider explicitly identifies itself as a safe space for rangatahi who are LGBTQ+, neurodiverse, or managing stress and anxiety.
The organisation reports an 88.24% programme completion rate across all three levels, a 91.7% graduation rate at Level 2, and a 92% transition rate into employment, education, or training. Completion rates for Māori learners are reported at 94.4% at Level 1 and 92.3% at Level 2.
