Carncot Independent School is a private primary and intermediate school located on Broadway Avenue in the Palmerston North central business district, accessible from Regent Street and Rangitane Street. The school occupies the site of the original Fitzherbert homestead, which was purchased by a group of parents in 1955. Additional neighbouring properties have since been acquired to expand classroom, specialist, and play space.

The school covers Year 1 through to Year 8 and operates a structured classroom model in which each pupil has a designated desk and class teacher. From Year 1, specialist teachers deliver or supplement instruction in subjects including mathematics, science, art, physical education, and languages.
