School donations
The Ministry of Education profile states that: "Donations should not be requested, unless for a school camp".
Check directly with the school for current charges, contributions or other costs. Learn more on the donations scheme or fees and charges at school, both on education.govt.nz.
Equity Index
The Ministry publishes this figure as a bare number — KuraData shows it against the directory-wide average, so you can see where Richmond View School actually sits, not just the number on its own.
The Equity Index estimates the socio-economic barriers students face, on average, and is used to inform government funding and support. It is not a measure of school quality or academic performance.
Higher values indicate a higher level of estimated socio-economic barriers; lower values indicate fewer. Learn how the Equity Index is calculated →
Student ethnicity
The Ministry publishes this as a raw table — here it's visualised directly against Richmond View School's own roll, so the shape of it is clear at a glance.
- European — 229 students (68.2%)
- Asian — 60 students (17.9%)
- Pacific — 10 students (3%)
- Māori — 14 students (4.2%)
- MELAA — 49 students (14.6%)
- Other — 6 students (1.8%)
Percentages may sum to more than 100% because students can identify with more than one ethnic group.

Enrolment
Richmond View School is a State-Integrated Special Character School serving the Christian community of Marlborough. It operates under an Integration Agreement between the Blenheim Elim Church Trust and the Ministry of Education, which results in two separate rolls.
Preference for enrolment is given to families who attend a church and can supply a reference from their Pastor or Minister. 5% of the roll is reserved for applicants under a Non-Preferential (non-churched) category. Applications to enrol are open for 2026 and 2027, except for Year 0–1 places, which are open for all years.
To apply, families complete an enrolment enquiry form. Church-preference applicants are also required to submit a Pastoral Reference Form. Additional enquiries can be directed to [email protected]. The full enrolment policy is published on the SchoolDocs website.
International students
International applicants may apply to enter any year group, subject to availability. The enrolment process involves the following steps:
- Complete the online International Students Application Form and Enrolment Agreement, including all required documents.
- Attend a student interview (in person or online, approximately 15–20 minutes); a pre-entry English test may also be required.
- Receive an offer of place and invoice; pay fees in full to receive a fee receipt.
- Apply for a student visa through Immigration New Zealand.
- Provide evidence of current medical and travel insurance.
- Attend orientation prior to commencing study.
All international students must reside with a parent, legal guardian, designated caregiver, or a Richmond View School Approved Homestay.

- Counselling: Two part-time counsellors, Mr. Alistair Crawford and Mrs. Sharon du Preez, both members of the New Zealand Association of Counsellors, offer a confidential service to students seen individually or in small groups.
