About Wentworth Primary

Wentworth College & Primary is a co-educational independent school located in Gulf Harbour, Auckland. It was founded in 2003, opening with 43 students, and now enrols more than 550 students across Years 1–13.

The school operates as a single continuous institution spanning primary through to secondary, with the stated aim of providing an unbroken educational pathway. It reports a University Entrance achievement rate above 90% and offers the Cambridge curriculum, which the school notes provides internationally recognised qualifications.

Aquatic Programme

The Aquatic Programme comprises three distinct activities:

• Junior Swimming — a two-week programme for Year 1–2 students covering swimming lessons, lifejacket usage, deep water confidence, and boating experiences
• Swimming Sports — competitive and participation-based events held at a local pool for Years 5–13
• Water Sports Day — a participation-focused day at local beaches for Years 7–10, involving paddle boarding, kayaking, and sailing

Pastoral Care

Wentworth organises student pastoral care through a House system and, in the College, a Tutor Group structure. The three named Houses are Findlay, Fleming, and McDonald, each operating across both the Primary School and the College.

The following named roles and structures provide pastoral support to students:

• Classroom teachers (Primary School) — serve as the primary point of contact for each child's wellbeing, academic progress and daily care, and communicate directly with families.
• Tutor Groups (College) — students meet daily within their House Tutor Group; tutors monitor attendance, wellbeing and engagement.
• Deans (College) — work alongside Tutor Group teachers to support students through their College years.
• Assistant Head of College – Pastoral Wellbeing — holds overall responsibility for pastoral systems and student wellbeing within the College, working with staff, students and families.
