Faculties and Schools

AUT is organised into five faculties containing 15 schools in total. The faculties and their constituent schools are as follows.

• Faculty of Business, Economics and Law (Te Ara Pakihi, Te Ōhanga Me Te Ture) — contains the Business School (Te Kura Kaipakihi) and the Law School (Te Kura Ture).
• Faculty of Culture and Society (Te Ara Kete Aronui) — contains the School of Education (Te Kura Mātauranga), the School of Hospitality and Tourism (Te Kura Taurimatanga me te Mahi Tāpoi), and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities.
• Faculty of Design and Creative Technologies (Te Ara Auaha) — contains the School of Art and Design (Te Kura Toi a Hoahoa), the School of Communication Studies (Te Kura Whakapāho), the School of Engineering, Computer and Mathematical Sciences (Te Kura Mātai Pūhanga, Rorohiko, Pāngarau), and the School of Future Environments (Huri te Ao).
• Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences (Te Ara Hauora A Pūtaiao) — contains the School of Acute and Primary Health, the School of Allied Health, the School of Community and Public Health, the School of Nursing, the School of Science (Te Kura Pūtaiao), and the School of Sport, Exercise and Health.
• Te Ara Poutama — Faculty of Māori and Indigenous Development.

Campuses and Locations

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) operates three campuses across Auckland, along with several specialist facilities.

• AUT City Campus — 55 Wellesley Street East, Auckland Central
• AUT North Campus — 90 Akoranga Drive, Northcote, Auckland
• AUT South Campus — 640 Great South Rd, Manukau, Auckland

AUT also operates AUT Millennium, a sport and performance facility that includes Olympic-size pools, a track and field stadium, a gym, and three specialist clinics. A separate AUT Refugee Education Centre provides education for refugees settling in Aotearoa New Zealand.

International Students

AUT offers more than 250 programmes to international students, spanning undergraduate, postgraduate, foundation pathways, English language, and Study Abroad options. Students come from more than 140 countries.

The following study options are available to international students:

• Degree programmes across business, creative industries, engineering, computer and mathematical sciences, health, hospitality, law, and sport
• Foundation and pathway programmes for students not yet meeting degree entry requirements, building academic and English language skills
• English language courses with direct entry into degree programmes on completion
• Study Abroad, allowing students to spend a semester at AUT and earn credits towards a qualification at their home institution
• Student exchange, available through formal agreements with over 60 universities worldwide
• PhD study, for which international students based in New Zealand pay the same fees as domestic students

International tuition fees reflect the full cost of tuition, as domestic student fees are partially funded by the New Zealand Government. All fees are in NZ dollars and include GST. As an example of the fee ranges involved, the annual international tuition fee for 120 points of the Bachelor of Engineering (Honours) is $50,100, while the same workload in the Bachelor of Visual Arts Te Tohu Paetahi mō Toi Ataata is $44,000. A student services levy of approximately $1,259.67 is added to tuition fees per 120-point period. Fees are subject to change year to year.

Student Financial Support Services

AUT and associated organisations provide several named financial support services for enrolled students experiencing financial difficulty.

• Student Financial Emergency and Hardship Support: AUT's own fund for students facing temporary financial difficulty. It can cover essential living costs such as food, transport, unpaid rent, bills, medical emergencies, tangihanga or funeral attendance costs, childcare, and laptop loans. It does not cover tuition fees, debt repayment, assets, visa applications, or fines. Support is delivered as food or transport vouchers, an AUT wallet voucher, direct bank payments, direct payments to third-party creditors, or loaned laptops and data packages.
• Tautoko: Run through AUTSA, this service provides all-day breakfast, a free food pantry, and period packs at the City Campus office (WC202). Students at the North and South campuses can complete an assistance form to arrange food parcel collection.
• Pou Māori: A confidential service available to Māori students, contactable at maori@aut.ac.nz, that assists with applying for AUT's financial support.

Student Accommodation

AUT operates two student accommodation facilities, one at each of its City and North campuses.

• Te Āhuru Mayoral Drive Student Accommodation (City Campus) — single studio apartments, each with a bed, kitchenette, and bathroom, plus communal kitchen, dining, lounge, and study spaces. Located a one-minute walk from campus.
• Akoranga Student Village (North Campus) — 40 townhouse-style apartments in a village setting, each shared by five to six people with two bathrooms and shared kitchen and living areas. Located a five-minute walk from campus.

There is no AUT accommodation at the South Campus. Students studying there who require accommodation may use the City Campus facility and travel by AUT shuttle bus or public transport.

Applications for the 2027 intake are open. AUT's accommodation operates under the Education (Pastoral Care of Tertiary and International Learners) Code of Practice 2021, which sets standards for student wellbeing, facilities, and support services across New Zealand tertiary providers.
