Auckland Institute of Studies (AIS) is a private degree-granting institution established in 1990 and located in Mount Albert, Auckland. It operates across two campuses: St Helens and Asquith.

Student Fees

The Student Services Fee (SSF) is charged at $300.00 per year, or $30.00 per month (or part thereof). In 2025, the SSF covered 90% of the direct costs of the services it funds, with the remaining 10% subsidised by AIS.

The SSF is allocated across the following services:

  • 52% — Counselling services and pastoral care (student orientation, Student Support and Raise EAP)
  • 20% — Sports, recreation and cultural activities (gym, sports teams and cultural events)
  • 18% — Employment and careers information, advice and guidance (Student Support and HR)
  • 6% — Students' associations and clubs (Student Council, student forums, alumni and whanau events)
  • 2% — Financial support and advice
  • 2% — Health Services

Tuition fees vary by programme and are listed on each individual programme page. Separate fee schedules for domestic and international students are published for 2026.

Under the New Zealand Government's Fees-Free scheme, eligible students may study the final year of a bachelor programme, or a level 5 diploma programme, without paying tuition fees.

Student Support Services

Auckland Institute of Studies provides the following student support services:
