About My Skill Limited

My Skill Limited is a New Zealand training provider focused on the health and disability support workforce. It traces its origins to WellCare, a small training team established in Nelson in 1989, which concentrated on support worker training for aged care in the Nelson region.

WellCare became part of NZ Health Group in 2005, and the organisation was rebranded as MySkill in 2019. It now delivers all support worker training for NZ Health Group, as well as training for some NZ Health Group partners and other health and disability providers across New Zealand.

MySkill is a member of AECTP, and its First Response course content meets the NZ Resuscitation Council Guidelines.

My Skill Limited provides the following support services to enrolled learners across its health and wellbeing programmes:

  • Dedicated learning facilitator: each learner is assigned a named facilitator who is available for contact via a freephone 0800 number.
  • Proactive outreach: if My Skill identifies that a learner is not progressing through the programme, staff contact the learner directly to offer support and encouragement.
  • Assessment marking and moderation: My Skill marks and moderates all learner assessments, removing this responsibility from the employer or workplace.
  • Workplace verifications: My Skill conducts practical verifications on behalf of employers, so workplaces are not required to provide trained workplace assessors.
  • Progress reporting: employers and learners receive regular progress reports — weekly for Level 3 programmes and monthly for Level 2 programmes.
  • Online training agreement: a simple online training agreement is provided for learners to complete at enrolment.
