About Seatoun School
Seatoun School is a state full primary school in Seatoun, Wellington, catering for students from Year 1 to Year 8. It is located at 59 Burnham Street, within metres of the entrance to Wellington Harbour, on the site of the former Fort Dorset army base.
The school was established in 1916 as a side school to Worser Bay, becoming independent in 1921. In April 2002 it relocated to its current site, approximately one kilometre from the original location.
The school is classified decile 10 and draws a predominantly NZ European roll, with students also from Māori, Pacific Island, Indian, European, North American, Chinese, and other Asian backgrounds.
The current site includes a grass playing field with fitness stations, hard surface play areas, junior and senior adventure playgrounds, and a landscaped garden. The school also maintains gardens used to supply produce for cooking activities.
