About Southland Adventist Christian School
Southland Adventist Christian School is a state-integrated, co-educational day school located at 21 Durham Street, Waikiwi, Invercargill. It is owned and operated by the Seventh-day Adventist Church and currently enrols students from New Entrants to Year 8, with a planned expansion to include Year 9 from 2027.
The school's history in Invercargill dates to 1955, when the first Seventh-day Adventist school in the city opened on Esk Street. A second site was built on Bainfield Road in Waikiwi in 1968, and the current building on Durham Street opened on 6 February 2021 following twelve months of construction.
As a special character school, it provides education aligned with the beliefs, values, and lifestyle of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, with an emphasis on Christian character and community service. Alongside academic learning, the school runs Bible, values, and pastoral care programmes. The school is governed by a Board of Trustees comprising parent-elected members, Seventh-day Adventist Church proprietor representatives, the principal, and a staff representative.

Check directly with the school for current charges, contributions or other costs. Learn more on the donations scheme or fees and charges at school, both on education.govt.nz.
Equity Index
The Ministry publishes this figure as a bare number — KuraData shows it against the directory-wide average, so you can see where Southland Adventist Christian School actually sits, not just the number on its own.
The Equity Index estimates the socio-economic barriers students face, on average, and is used to inform government funding and support. It is not a measure of school quality or academic performance.
Higher values indicate a higher level of estimated socio-economic barriers; lower values indicate fewer. Learn how the Equity Index is calculated →
Student ethnicity
The Ministry publishes this as a raw table — here it's visualised directly against Southland Adventist Christian School's own roll, so the shape of it is clear at a glance.

- Asian — 21 students (16.3%)
- Pacific — 23 students (17.8%)
- Māori — 6 students (4.7%)
- MELAA — 27 students (20.9%)
