About West Park School
West Park School is a New Zealand primary school. The school states that its operations are guided by core values set out in a School Charter, which describes the school's core purpose and how those values are expressed in practice, with the Board, staff, parents, and community expected to work in alignment.
School donations
The Ministry of Education profile states that: "Donations may be requested".
With an Equity Index of 392, West Park School is below the 432 threshold newly required to opt into the donations scheme, though a school already receiving this funding from an earlier year may continue to do so. Outside the scheme, a school can still ask families for donations, but cannot compel or enforce payment.
Check directly with the school for current charges, contributions or other costs. Learn more on the donations scheme or fees and charges at school, both on education.govt.nz.
Equity Index
The Ministry publishes this figure as a bare number — KuraData shows it against the directory-wide average, so you can see where West Park School actually sits, not just the number on its own.
The Equity Index estimates the socio-economic barriers students face, on average, and is used to inform government funding and support. It is not a measure of school quality or academic performance.
Higher values indicate a higher level of estimated socio-economic barriers; lower values indicate fewer. Learn how the Equity Index is calculated →
Student ethnicity
The Ministry publishes this as a raw table — here it's visualised directly against West Park School's own roll, so the shape of it is clear at a glance.
- European — 100 students (38.6%)
- Asian — 120 students (46.3%)
- Pacific — 20 students (7.7%)
- Māori — 22 students (8.5%)
- MELAA — 16 students (6.2%)
- Other — 3 students (1.2%)
Percentages may sum to more than 100% because students can identify with more than one ethnic group.

Enrolment
West Park School has operated an enrolment zone scheme since July 2016. Students living within the home zone are entitled to enrol. The home zone covers Broadmeadows and is bounded to the west by the motorway between Fraser Avenue (south) and Ironside Road (north), and extends east to include Ohariu Valley. Residential addresses on both sides of Ironside Road and all addresses on Ohariu Valley Road are within the zone.
Applicants must provide proof of residence dated less than two months before the enrolment application — for example, a utility bill showing a parent or guardian's name and an in-zone address.
Twice each year, in-zone applications are sought during the three weeks before the end of Terms 2 and 4. This allows the Board of Trustees to assess how many places may be offered to out-of-zone applicants in the following six-month period. Out-of-zone availability is advertised in a local or daily newspaper, which also specifies the application deadline.
Out-of-zone applications are considered in the following order of priority:
- Siblings of current students
- Siblings of former students
- Children of former students
- Children of a board employee or board member
- All other applicants
If a priority group has more applicants than available places, selection is by ballot conducted under Section 11G(1) of the Education Act 1989. Applicants claiming sibling priority may be required to provide proof of the sibling relationship.
