Nelson Marlborough Institute of Technology (NMIT) is a publicly funded tertiary education provider based in Te Tauihu (the Top of the South region of New Zealand). It was founded in 1905 as the Nelson Technical School and became NMIT under its current name in 2000. The institution operates campuses in Nelson, Richmond, Marlborough, and Woodbourne.

Fees
The following 2026 fee figures apply to two postgraduate programmes offered at the Nelson campus. Student Services Fees are calculated at $2.50 per credit. Fees are indicative only and may vary with course selection.

Scholarships
NMIT offers a number of named scholarships for domestic and international students. Applicants who are eligible for Fees Free funding in the same year may not also receive a scholarship. Support with applications is available through Learner Success, Te Puna Manaaki, and SANITI (NMIT's Student Association).
- Open Day Scholarship (under 25) — $1,000 towards course fees; for domestic learners under 25 studying at NMIT in 2027 on any full-time or part-time programme.
- Open Day Scholarship (25 and over) — $1,000 towards course fees; for adult domestic learners aged 25 or over studying at NMIT in 2027 on any full-time or part-time programme.
- International High School Scholarship — up to $5,000 (including GST if payable) towards first-year course fees; for international students in New Zealand high schools applying for an eligible NMIT bachelor's degree or the New Zealand Diploma in Engineering (Civil) for the first time. All NMIT bachelor's degrees except the Bachelor of Nursing are eligible.
- Marlborough Campus Women's Scholarship (Year 1) — $1,000 applied to course fees, with any remaining balance paid directly to the recipient; for female domestic students enrolled in a full-time or career-related part-time programme at Marlborough Campus.
- Marlborough Campus Women's Scholarship (Year 2) — $1,000 towards course fees; for female domestic students in their second year of a full-time or career-related part-time programme at Marlborough Campus.
- Māori Women's Scholarship — $5,000 towards course fees; two scholarships available; for domestic female students of Māori descent aged under 25 enrolled in an NMIT programme in 2027.
Library Services
NMIT's Library Learning Centre at the Nelson Campus is a purpose-built facility spanning 2,400 square metres across three levels. It brings together library services, a Helpdesk, Learning Support, Wellbeing and Equity Support, computer suites, an English Language Hub, and various study spaces within a fully networked environment.
Students have access to physical books, database services, and free Wi-Fi. The Fishbowl Computer Café, located on the ground floor, is accessible seven days a week from 7 am to 10 pm, with swipe ID card access required outside campus hours.
Standard library opening hours during term time are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am to 5:00 pm. During holidays, hours reduce to 8:30 am to 4:00 pm Monday to Friday. The library is closed on weekends and public holidays.
NMIT Libraries also provide interloans and distance services for learners studying off-campus.
