Entry Requirements
Domestic applicants
Entry requirements differ depending on the level of programme applied for.
For Bachelor's Degree programmes, applicants must be at least 17 years old at the programme start date and hold University Entrance (UE) or NCEA Level 3 (or equivalent) with related subjects. Applicants aged under 18 must provide parental or guardian consent.
For Diploma programmes, applicants must be at least 17 years old and hold NCEA Level 2 (or equivalent) with related subjects. The parental consent requirement also applies to those under 18.
In either case, applicants aged 20 or over at the official programme start date may be considered without the academic qualification if they can demonstrate the potential to succeed in the programme.
Domestic applicants for whom English is not a first language must provide evidence of meeting the NZQA minimum English Proficiency Outcomes as set out in section 22 of the NZQA Programme Approval and Accreditation Rules. The Academic Dean has discretion to allow entry for domestic English as an Additional Language applicants.
International applicants
All international applicants must be at least 18 years old at the commencement of the programme.
For Bachelor's Degree programmes, international applicants require the equivalent of NCEA Level 3 with related subjects, plus evidence of meeting NZQA language requirements.
For Diploma programmes, the academic requirement is the equivalent of NCEA Level 2 with related subjects, again with evidence of meeting NZQA language requirements.

New Zealand citizens and permanent residents who have held that status for three or more years may apply for a student loan through StudyLink to cover tuition fees for NZQA-accredited courses. All fees are held by an independent trustee under Section 235A and 235B of the Education Act 1989, in accordance with NZQA student fee protection requirements.
Domestic students who cancel in writing before the eighth calendar day from programme commencement, and international students who cancel before the tenth working day, are eligible for a full refund. No refund applies after those periods have passed.
