About Tauranga Adventist School
Tauranga Adventist School is a state-integrated, full primary school (Years 1–8) located in Tauranga, New Zealand. It operates on a 2.0790-hectare site on Moffat Road, adjacent to the Tauranga Adventist Church. The school had 114 students at the start of Term 1, 2026, and employs 14 staff across five multi-grade classrooms.
The school was founded on the initiative of the local Seventh-day Adventist Church, which began discussing the idea of a church school as early as 1950. It opened in 1974 on a rural site in Bethlehem with 25 pupils and a single teaching principal. The school relocated to its current Moffat Road site in 2008 after outgrowing its original premises, which had become surrounded by commercial development. It integrated into the state system in 1993.
The school is owned and governed under the auspices of the New Zealand Seventh-day Adventist Schools' Association, which also conducts accreditation reviews alongside the Education Review Office. It is a member of Adventist Education New Zealand and part of the worldwide Adventist education network. Enrolment is open to any family able to support the school's aims and objectives, not only Adventist families.
The school's stated values are Integrity, Respect, Compassion, Resilience, and Excellence, each paired with a te reo Māori equivalent.

Equity Index
The Ministry publishes this figure as a bare number — KuraData shows it against the directory-wide average, so you can see where Tauranga Adventist School actually sits, not just the number on its own.
The Equity Index estimates the socio-economic barriers students face, on average, and is used to inform government funding and support. It is not a measure of school quality or academic performance.
Higher values indicate a higher level of estimated socio-economic barriers; lower values indicate fewer. Learn how the Equity Index is calculated →
Student ethnicity
The Ministry publishes this as a raw table — here it's visualised directly against Tauranga Adventist School's own roll, so the shape of it is clear at a glance.

- Pacific — 3 students (2.6%)
- Māori — 15 students (13%)
- MELAA — 13 students (11.3%)

Percentages may sum to more than 100% because students can identify with more than one ethnic group.
