About King's School (Remuera)
King's School is an independent Anglican preparatory school for boys located in Remuera, Auckland. The school was established as a separate institution on 6 June 1922, when the secondary department of King's College relocated to Middlemore, leaving the Remuera site to a newly formed Board of Governors. The school opened with an inaugural roll of 164 boys, including 37 boarders.
The site itself has been in continuous educational use since 1896, when it was first occupied by King's College. The school has been affiliated with the Anglican Church since its formation; the Bishop of Auckland holds an ex officio position on the Board of Governors.
In 1966, the school received a formal grant of arms from the College of Arms in England, issued by letters patent from the Kings of Arms. The coat of arms incorporates elements that reflect the school's name, its Anglican connection, and the name of the original homestead on the site, known as "The Tower." The school motto, as displayed, reads Let Moral Excellence Prevail.
