About Zayed College for Girls
Zayed College for Girls is a state integrated special character Islamic secondary school for girls in Years 7–13, located near Auckland International Airport. It was built by the Zayed bin Sultan Al-Nahayan Charitable and Humanitarian Foundation and opened in January 2001.
The school's special character is defined by the beliefs, values, and practices of Islam as expressed in the Quran and Sunnah of the Prophet Mohammed, interpreted through the four Mathhabs: Hanifi, Shafi, Hambali, and Maliki. Its stated purposes are to support the transmission of the Islamic faith system to students and to develop a mature commitment to Islamic beliefs and practices.
The school operates within the New Zealand curriculum context. Most students come from a variety of ethnic backgrounds, and the majority speak English as a second language.
The school's values are Kindness, Appreciation, Respect, and Equity — collectively forming the word KARE, an affectionate term for a friend in Te Reo Māori. Its motto is Educate a Woman, Educate a Nation.

Equity Index
The Ministry publishes this figure as a bare number — KuraData shows it against the directory-wide average, so you can see where Zayed College for Girls actually sits, not just the number on its own.
The Equity Index estimates the socio-economic barriers students face, on average, and is used to inform government funding and support. It is not a measure of school quality or academic performance.
Higher values indicate a higher level of estimated socio-economic barriers; lower values indicate fewer. Learn how the Equity Index is calculated →
