About The BUSY School NZ

Curriculum
The BUSY School is a New Zealand Charter School operating as an alternative education provider, focused on students who have disengaged or are at risk of disengaging from secondary education. Students can work towards NCEA Levels 1, 2, or 3, with successful completion of core subjects and vocational training accruing a minimum of 60 credits.
The three core NCEA subjects taught are:

Alongside core subjects, students complete electives that may include on-campus training, work placements, and Trades Academy collaborations, with the aim of gaining practical skills and industry certifications. Each student also develops an Individual Learning Plan and Career and Pathways plan in consultation with an Employment Pathways Officer, Learning Support staff, teachers, and parents or carers.
The school operates a five-day-a-week programme combining on-campus and off-campus learning. Campus attendance for school subjects is split between two groups: Group A attends on Mondays and Tuesdays, and Group B on Thursdays and Fridays. Vocational and industry days are individualised and may include structured work placements, work experience, school-based apprenticeships or traineeships (SAT), vocational education and training (VET) qualifications, and the BUSY School to Work programme covering work readiness and employability skills.
